abstract = "Several authors define risk as a danger with impacts in the
society. In order to analyze risks in urban environments, it is
necessary to know the conditions of vulnerability of the
environment and / or individual exposed to the danger. It is
necessary to research methodologies that work integration of risks
                         with social vulnerabilities. The metropole Curitiba (Paran{\'a}
state, south Brazil) is in this context. Authors who analyzed
risks and vulnerabilities in this city claim that the most
socially vulnerable areas are located in environmentally
vulnerable areas. In this work, we analyze quantitatively in
Curitiba the inundation areas risk with buildings and the social
vulnerability in inundation areas. Geospatial data on land cover,
flood areas and social vulnerability were processed in the
software ArcGis 10.1. The layers were cut by the inundation area.
The topological consistency of the new data was verified. The area
of each theme was calculated, allowing the quantitative analysis.
As main results, approximately 59% of inundation areas do not have
built-up areas. About social vulnerability, approximately 71% of
inundation areas have medium to low social vulnerability. It is
concluded that public land management policies, although not
followed with the utmost vigor, regulates human occupation in
                         inundation areas.",
